Job Details ROCHESTER Full Time $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 Salary/year Day Shift Engineering Description Shur-Co UK Ltd, have a great opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team based in Rochester, Kent. Working within the engineering team of multi-national company that manufactures, distributes, and installs covering systems for the haulage industry the successful candidate will report directly to the UK Engineering Manager. The role: The Mechanical Design Engineer will be an integral part of the team in developing, certifying and integrating new design solutions of covering systems to the UK and EU market. The successful candidate will support the engineering team in all aspects of their day-to-day activities and will ensure the accuracy of technical documentation and drawings and in conjunction with the team will ascertain and resolve any issues relating to product compliance. The engineer must be able to excel in driving safety and technical excellence, innovation and best practice within the organisation, whilst working closely with our cross-functional team to ensure the successful completion of projects. General duties and key responsibilities: Participate in the development and introduction of new parts and products by creating CAD drawings, models and technical documentation. To compile bill of material tables and associated data for a list of products. Assist in troubleshooting design and certification issues, proposing and implementing solutions. To ensure data is accurate & kept within company standards. To develop costings based on purchased material costs as well as engineered assemblies. To work closely with operations across three sites, to understand the product requirements, production methods and key transactional processes etc. Identify and report problems with specific processes or products to the management team. Assist in the development and execution of test plans and procedures, design necessary test rigs and provide technical support to production, testing, and maintenance teams. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the design and certification processes. Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes. Qualifications Skills and experience: Essential: Able to work with IT systems, proficient with Microsoft Office package. Experience in the design of machines and solutions for automated processes from concept to delivery Proficient in 3D CAD software, producing 3D designs using SolidWorks Generating the Bill of Materials to go with the associated designs Trained in the use of 2D CAD software such as AutoCAD to generate documentation of parts, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings. Mechanical engineering qualification Numerate, with a level of engineering training to carry out mechanical calculations. Good communicator, able to work with people and build positive working relationships.
