Job Title – Trust Tax Assistant

Our client is recruiting a trust tax assistant to assist in preparing trust accounts and tax returns and to provide organised and professional support to the Private Clients Trust team.
To apply for the role you must have excellent communication skills, initiative, and the ability to organise yourself is essential.
Responsibilities
1. Accounts and Tax Returns
2. Prepare self-assessment tax returns and computations by entering source information provided by clients, and other associated tasks.
3. Prepare trust and deceased estate accounts by completing these from information provided by clients and their professional advisors.
4. Prepare Inheritance Tax returns for periodic and exit charges.
5. Provide ad-hoc administration services to trustees e.g. arranging payments to beneficiaries, settlement of third party invoices and tax liabilities.
6. Administration and compliance work in relation to charitable trusts.
7. Delivery of client work to meet Trustees’ or HMRC deadlines.
8. Ability to develop good working relationships with clients and team members.
9. Attend training courses as identified in order to develop both technical and personal skills.
10. Adhere to the firm’s risk management policies and procedures.
11. Communicate workload with line manager or partner.
12. Undertake other duties to meet the demands of the business.
13. Liaise with HMRC and other professionals regarding client affairs.
14. Maintain an up to date understanding of trust matters.
Personal Specification:
Education and qualifications
1. Maths and English Language at GCSE (at grade C’s or above)
2. A level standard (or equivalent) of general education
3. An accounting qualification such as AAT or ACCA, or a degree in accounting
Desirable
1. Experience of working in an accounts department.
2. Understanding of CCH Trust accounts software
