An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, personable, dynamic and self-motivated individual, to join the Patient Access Team as a Outpatients Receptionist.
The Outpatient Department works in close line with a number of the government targets around patient waiting times and as a member of the team, your duties will involve:
1. Making patient appointments using the computerised appointment system and applying knowledge of targets and clinic types.
2. Rearranging appointments and dealing with patients, queries from internal and external contacts, face to face and over the telephone.
3. Providing an efficient and effective administration service.
We are looking for candidates who have a Good Basic Education, GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English, and who have clear, concise verbal and written communication skills, to enable liaison with multi-disciplinary teams, patients and carers. You must work well in a team environment, as you will be working within a larger team, and feel comfortable working under pressure.
Responsibilities include:
1. Working in support of a specialty or group of specialties, as part of a team coordinating the patient journey from referral through to discharge.
2. Providing an excellent service to patients, their relatives and carers.
3. Providing a comprehensive administration, booking and appointment service for outpatients and ensuring compliance with waiting time targets.
4. Working as part of a Patient Administration Service and providing cross-cover for other staff across the Service to ensure a consistent and effective administration service is maintained at all times.
