An exciting opportunity has arisen for Tissue ViabilitySpecialist Nurse post within the South Tyneside and Sunderland Tissue Viabilityservice. The service provides wound careadvice, support, assessments, education and training to both hospital sites,community nursing teams, hospices, practice nurses, GPs, residential andnursing homes.

In additionwound management is a widespread and often underestimated health problem in theUK and the effective management of wounds has been determined a nationalpriority with studies indicating that woundprevalence is set to increase due to increasing aging population overthe next 10 years.
Workingwithin the Tissue Viability Team, you will play a key role in providing specialist clinicaladvice and support to patients and clinical staff in relation to pressure ulcerprevention and wound management.
The tissue viabilityagenda is extensive and dynamic. This is an exciting opportunity for someone tojoin this established team and develop their clinical skills within thisspecialist field of nursing.
Main duties of the job
You will work under the direction and supervision of the SeniorSpecialist Nurses, Lead Nurse and Nurse Consultant within the Tissue Viabilityteam to provide Tissue Viability care, advice, support, education and trainingto patients, carers and staff. This isbased on knowledge of relevant evidence, current research, best practiceguidelines and tissue viability policies across the Trust.
Thesuccessful applicant will have a passion for improving patient care, enjoyproject work and understand the importance of good communication andevidence-based practice to improve patient safety, experience and clinicaleffectiveness.
Applicantsmust have a sound working knowledge and recent experience of general aspects oftissue viability. Completion of a tissue viability course or associated woundcare course is essential.

2. Be accountable for the planning and delivery of safe, effective and compassionate patient care in relation to dedicated pathways of care within the specialism

Essential
10. Current NMC Registration (Level 1 adult nurse)
11. Degree in nursing studies or healthcare related subject, or evidence of working towards degree completion. Degree must be completed within 3 years of commencing post
12. Mentorship certificate/ Practice Assessor training or demonstrable equivalent experience
13. Registered Mentor
14. Tissue Viability course or associated wound care course
15. Willing to complete Debridement course (to include sharp debridement)
