UKCEH is looking for an experienced Facilities Support Assistant to join our team of talented individuals, contributing to scientific discovery and generating the data, insights and solutions that researchers, businesses and governments need to solve complex environmental challenges.

You'll be joining our Workplace Team to support the delivery of high quality, safe and clean buildings across the UKCEH estate. The Workplace Team provides a wide range of hard and soft facilities services, including minor maintenance, building compliance, catering, reception, and fleet vehicles. Working closely with other internal and external stakeholders you will ensure you support the Workplace Team in providing the highest quality in customer service

Your main responsibilities will include:
1. Cover canteen when shorted staff or during busy periods. Provide friendly and efficient customer service, including taking order and handling payments. Monitoring and rotating stock. Further training can be provided to assist in handling food items.
2. Conduct basic routine scheduled inspections tasks of premises and a wide range of equipment to ensure legal compliance and high levels of service are achieved to deliver safe environments to all internal and external stakeholders.
3. Support the site with contractor management by carrying out inductions, preparing permits to work and ensuring contractors are working safely across the UKCEH estate to provide safe environments for all internal and external stakeholders.
4. Respond to reactive routine work requests for the Workplace team, these range from a multiple of tasks such as cleaning, waste management, moving and handling and basic maintenance tasks to ensure that the Workplace Team are providing a first-class service to all internal and external stakeholders.
5. Support the administration duties of the Workplace Team by covering reception when required, postal duties and basic document management and retention to ensure Workplace team systems are maintained and kept up to date, allowing the Workplace Team to report accurate data and ensure the highest quality of customer service is achieved.
6. Cover reception when required. Greet and assist visitors, providing a welcoming atmosphere, manage phone calls and directing them to appropriate departments, manage the reception inbox.
For the role of Facilities Support Assistant we’re looking for somebody who has:
7. Good standard of education or equivalent work experience
8. Ability to carry out moving and handling tasks
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
10. IT literate - Office 365 - Word, Excel, and other systems.
11. Detail orientated, accurate data entry
12. Customer focused
13. Ability to multitask switch / calm under pressure.
14. Reliable team player, adaptable and flexible
