Two new schools in North East Lincolnshire will provide fantastic opportunities for ambitious and energetic professionals - and we are seeking exceptional individuals to be the Lead Teachers for the Resource Specialist Provision (RSP) at each.
Scartho and Waltham Gateway Academies, opening in September, will eventually provide for up to 210 mainstream pupils, from Reception to Year 6.
They will also include an RSP, catering for up to 12 children from across North East Lincolnshire who have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The RSP Lead Teacher at each Academy will work closely with a team of up to four support staff and will play a key role, alongside the SENDCO, in collaborating with staff across the academies and colleagues in the Trust, local authority and external agencies to ensure a broad, balanced and specialist curriculum is provided for our children accessing the RSP.
We are looking for experienced classroom teachers who demonstrate a strong desire to ensure children, who have often had negative experiences of education, are able to develop their skills and confidence, using adaptive, personalised teaching strategies.
It is crucial that the RSP teachers create a nurturing and empathic approach to teaching, prioritising child-centred relational approaches.
The successful candidates will hold ambitious expectations for all students with additional and special educational needs and disabilities and embed a culture where all can access the curriculum and learn effectively.
Both academies are already working closely with Trauma Informed Schools UK to support the development of our vision, values and curriculum. It is essential the successful candidates champion our principles of trauma awareness and relational learning, building strong, trusting relationships with our children to create a safe learning environment.
An ability to be creative and adaptable in their teaching is crucial. Experience of teaching across key stages is desirable and a deep knowledge of the core and wider curriculum is essential, including an in-depth understanding of teaching early reading, writing and maths.
Experience of working with children with additional needs, including those with SEMH, is vital and the candidates will have good knowledge and a practical understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
A commitment to ensuring the new academies are fully inclusive schools and the RSPs are part of the academy and not an addition, is essential.
The RSP teachers will have significant impact upon the lives and opportunities experienced by the young people of Scartho/Waltham and across North East Lincolnshire.
The successful candidates will work alongside a new Principal and Assistant Principal, staff team and supportive Trust, shaping the direction of travel of the new academies.
During the first year, both schools will offer 15 places for children in reception; up to 30 places for a mixed 1/2 class; up to 30 places for a mixed 3/4 class and 6 places in the RSP. The schools will then expand, at an agreed rate with the local authority, every year.
Our ethos is one of an uncompromising drive to achieve the highest standards of outcomes and behaviour in a safe environment, which encourages every student to experience an exciting and creative climate for learning.
We place a strong emphasis upon pastoral care and teachers will share the determination to offer the very best to our students so that they can thrive personally and academically.
The roles will start officially between July 2025 and September 2025, depending on the availability of the successful candidates.
A full package of on-going CPD is in place to support our staff team as part of the whole school relational approach. This will include regular supervision.
