An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and committed Band 5 Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Nurse to join the ENT Nursing Service in Primary & Community Care.
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of ear wax removal clinics by means of a microscope and micro suction technique. A commitment to undertake ongoing training and development is essential. Following further clinical development, the post holder will also provide care to patients with a range of other ENT conditions including ear infections, malignancy, mastoid care, perforations, osteoma, and polyps. The candidate should have knowledge and skills on ENT conditions like tonsillitis, epistaxis, scope cleaning, and decontamination processes, and be able to take charge in the absence of the unit manager, run clinics independently, chaperone, and assist clinicians in ENT procedures.

The post holder will support primary and secondary care across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, will have an active role in ENT clinics, and will work closely with ENT consultants and audiologists to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, responsive, and quality patient care. You should possess good organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills together with a willingness to learn. You will work in a supportive environment in which collaborative team working is a key component.
Main duties of the job
The ENT Nurse will be expected to undertake duties in Outpatient Departments in both Acute and Community Hospitals, and where needed in the patient's home.
They will carry out a range of assigned tasks involving direct and indirect care for the benefit of the patient/client in accordance with agreed protocols.
The post holder will deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with a range of ENT conditions including earwax, ear infections, malignancy, mastoid care, otitis media, perforations, osteoma, and polyps, tonsillitis, epistaxis, neck abscess, wound care, clips and stitches removal, scope decontamination process, correct use of ENT equipment, and stacks system.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all policies and procedures are observed and meet Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB requirements, as well as NMC Standards and Code.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
QUALIFICATION and or KNOWLEDGE
* UK Registered General Nurse
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Ability to demonstrate responsibilities under NMC Code.
* Completed Practice Assessor/Supervisor training.
EXPERIENCE
* Previous experience of working in a clinic/ward environment.
* Taken charge of ward/department.
* Experience in ENT nursing.
