HGV Mechanic
We are currently looking for a HGV Mechanic to join our expandingTransport Department. Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will take fullresponsibility for your area of work and will be competent to work unsupervisedon vehicles and trailers. Diagnostic and technical experience is a distinctadvantage.
What you’ll do in the position
* Carry out planned inspection, service, maintenance and repair of all types of vehicles and trailers in line with current regulatory guidance.
* Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
* Possess a working knowledge of fault diagnostic equipment.
* MOT preparation.
* Provide mobile assistance as required
* Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises.
* Liaise with parts suppliers to attain parts.
* Ensure Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to.
* Conform to all customer site requirements & regulations.
* Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness.
* Maintain thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses.
What you’ll need
* Technical qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 qualified technician) or proven experience repairing & maintaining vehicles.
* Valid Driving License.
* Ability to work within guidelines given and to strict deadlines.
* Able to work under pressure.
* Actively seek solutions to problems.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Good verbal communication skills.
* Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks.
* Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements.
* Flexible in hours and approach.
A HGV Licence will be advantageous, but not necessary.
