Electrical Design Engineer – Automation & Robotics
Location: Farnborough area
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join an advanced engineering and technology centre, playing a key role in the development of next-generation automation and robotics solutions for the industrial machinery sector.
This is a hands-on role where you'll be involved in the full product development lifecycle – from concept and design through to testing and validation. You’ll work within a multi-disciplinary engineering team, contributing to cutting-edge projects aimed at improving performance, reliability and efficiency across a range of complex electro-mechanical systems.

Electrical Design Engineer Responsibilities:
Translate design requirements into robust, high-quality electrical solutions
Collaborate closely with mechanical, software and test teams to develop integrated systems
Create and manage design documentation including schematics and design validation plans
Lead and support system-level testing and fault diagnosis
Engage with internal manufacturing, procurement and quality teams to optimise designs for production
Support the continuous improvement of design processes and standards
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal design reviews
What you’ll need:
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Minimum of 4–5 years' experience in electrical product development or design engineering
Experience with networked communication systems such as CANbus
Strong understanding of engineering principles, FMEA, and testing methodologies
Hands-on experience with wiring, harness assembly and system diagnostics
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a cross-functional environment
A proactive, inquisitive approach to technology and problem solving
Desirable Skills:
Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory compliance (e.g. machinery directive/CE marking)
Knowledge of mechanical or hydraulic systems
Exposure to EMC testing or basic software programming
Competence in tools such as MATLAB or similar analysis software
