The Strategic Sourcing Organization at American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) is responsible for the enterprise-wide sourcing and contracting strategy with third-party vendors to best support our business units at Amex GBT in accordance with policy. As new products, services, and technologies are constantly being introduced into the market, Amex GBT must remain on the forefront to continue to improve our vendor partnerships, build enterprise value, and improve employee and client-related programs.
As a member of the Strategic Sourcing Organization, you will be part of a diverse and hard-working team who support the following verticals and categories:
1. Corporate Services Vertical: including Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Professional Services to support various business functions, Human Resources, Marketing & Communication, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), and Facilities-related services.
2. Product, Platform, & Technology Vertical: including IT Software, Hardware, Software Maintenance, SaaS, Information Security, IT Labor, Telecom, Infrastructure, Financial Systems, AI, and various internal and client-facing applications.
3. Sourcing Optimization and Operations Vertical: provides key support to the organization through efficiencies in process, tools, policies, financial and business reporting and analysis, and vendor and Vendor Relationship Manager (VRM) communications including facilitation of questions, partner concerns, and guidance.
The Director is a strategic leader with vision responsible for guiding the Corporate Services Vertical team and third-party vendor engagements in collaboration with business partners to drive value and identify savings opportunities across the organization in line with our company strategy. To do this, we must continue to innovate, challenge the status quo and drive efficiencies where possible.
This role requires a blend of analytical prowess, market insight, and Strategic Sourcing and Procurement experience. These efforts are in partnership with a number of teams and collaborators including VRMs, legal, risk & compliance, information security, privacy, and payments to ensure Amex GBT has a strategic, effective, and compliant vendor program.
What You'll Do:
4. Lead a team of category managers within the Corporate Services vertical, providing leadership oversight, partner concern support, coaching, and learning and development opportunities.
5. Optimize the vertical and improve value opportunities through prioritization, key commercial negotiations, and strong collaboration with business functions and leaders to deliver on key objectives while adhering to agreed-upon budgets.
6. Effectively understand and partner with the other Strategic Sourcing verticals and category colleagues to align on key principles and opportunities to ensure effective prioritization of value-driven initiatives.
7. Connect with executive leaders on key initiatives, metrics, strategies, savings and value add.
8. Enhance the ESG program within the organization while driving ESG principles in the Supply Chain across all Sourcing engagements.
9. Support and recommend optimization opportunities for the overall Strategic Sourcing operations.
What We're Looking For:
10. Five or more years recent experience supporting strategic sourcing principles including procurement, commercial negotiations, and contracting.
11. Proven track record of strategic orientation, change management and thought leadership.
12. Experience in driving projects with a company-wide impact (savings or value driven).
13. Strong planning and organizing skills with the ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities.
14. Proven people leader with strong talent management and engagement experience.
15. Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills across various areas of the business
16. Ability to influence across functions and drive results without direct ownership.
17. Financial acumen and analytical skills.
18. Able to collaborate with remote teams effectively.
19. Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
20. Experience with various Sourcing / Procurement / Finance and / or Project Management technologies.
A strong plus for applicants with the following additional qualifications
21. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, with a focus in Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, and / or Procurement.
22. Experience in merger & acquisition Sourcing or Procurement.
23. Written and / or verbal communication in multiple languages.
24. Exposure to ESG / CSR laws, regulations, contracting principles, and / or certification program

The US national annual base salary range for this position is from $100,000 to $200,000. The national range provided includes the base salary that GBT expects to pay for the role. Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.
In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for our Annual Incentive Award plan, which rewards participants based on company and individual performance and is also eligible for awards under the company Equity Incentive Plan, which is designed to align participants' interests with those of shareholders.
