Specialist Biomedical Scientist

A vacancy has arisen for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our team in the Blood Sciences department at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospital, which forms part of the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology Network.
We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic Biomedical Scientists with a flexible approach to work. The posts are covering 37.5 hours over a 7-day working week. Participation in the out-of-hours service is an essential requirement, once deemed competent in all relevant areas.
Main duties of the job
* To be accountable for own professional actions and work independently for long periods without supervision.
* Work in line with all prescribed Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
* Adhere to the Professional Code of Conduct for Health Care Scientists.
* Ensure that all tests are performed efficiently and in accordance with established protocols.
Person specification
Education and Qualifications
* IBMS Specialist Diploma in a relevant specialist subject, equivalent qualification, or relevant experience.
* Registered with HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist.
* Commitment to complete and maintain Mandatory Training and required Laboratory competencies.
* Evidence of continued CPD including relevant courses.
Experience
* Experience with a range of laboratory techniques.
* Discipline-specific NHS experience in a UKAS accredited laboratory.
* Experience in the implementation of new methodologies and/or equipment.
Skills and Knowledge
* Keyboard and basic IT skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively with staff of all grades.
* Evidence of good manual dexterity.
* Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
