Depending upon your clinical skills the successful candidatecouldhave the opportunity to work in main theatrescoveringmaternity,gynaecology,orthopaedicand trauma,ophthalmology and ENT while also attending our Westmorland General Hospital that focusesprimarilyon Elective Surgery.

• You willparticipatein a 1:8 Consultant of the week model, including prospective cover covering Obstetrics and emergency theatres.
• You will join a team of 8 Consultants with several SpecialistsandSpecialty Doctorssupporting all general services of the hospital including a busy Accident and Emergency department, Theatres covering maternity, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic and trauma,ophthalmologyand ENT.
• On-call shifts provide non-residential cover of Obstetrics and emergency theatres, supervising adedicated resident anaesthetist.
• Lead Assessments of the deteriorating patient for emergency admission to the Intensive Care Unit.
• Lead the team in managing pre and post operative theatre admissions.
• Participate in clinical audit,governanceand quality improvement.
• Demonstrate evidence-based practice whereappropriate.
• Undertake andparticipatein the appraisal process and job planning.
• Satisfy the criteria for revalidation.
• Contribute to service development in areas of special interest andexpertise.
• Activelyparticipatein continuing medical education.
• Undertake personal appraisal and job-planning as part of revalidation.
• Maintain all mandatory training requirements.
