Job summary The role of the Advanced Practitioner is as a non-medical practitioner, working as part of the Clinical Haematology team, under the supervision of a Consultant Haematologist. The post holder will provide clinical expertise and advice for haematology oncology chemotherapy patients. They will demonstrate a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of non-malignant and malignant haematological conditions and pre and post chemotherapy patients. Be involved in consultant clinics and assist in pre chemotherapy assessments and planning, and emergency attendance avoidance. They will have a key role within the MDT acting as a liaison between all members of the multi-disciplinary team, to allow for seamless and efficient care. They will monitor and improve standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence-based practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership. They will participate in clinical governance within the service by undertaking audit and research as part of the MDT.
