Role Overview – Consultant Radiologist with Specialisation in Interventional Radiology As a Consultant Radiologist with a focus on Interventional procedures, you will provide specialist diagnostic and Interventional radiology services. You will join a highly collaborative and innovative team to support clinical services and further develop radiology provision for the Trust and surrounding region. Key responsibilities include: Provide expert diagnostic and Interventional radiology services, including vascular, GI, and GU imaging and interventions. Participate in the on-call rota and weekend radiological support for acute and emergency imaging needs. Take a leadership role in clinical research, contributing to cutting-edge projects in oncology, cardiovascular, and respiratory medicine. Collaborate in multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs), supporting clinical decision-making and patient care. Contribute to medical education, supervising radiology trainees, medical students, and non-medical staff. Support audit, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance to ensure continuous service improvement. Work Programme and Responsibilities Direct Clinical Care (DCC) – 8-9 PA’s for clinical imaging, Interventional procedures, and MDT participation. Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) – 1.5 PA’s for professional development, including audit, CPD, teaching, and revalidation. On-call duties – Contribute to a 1:8 on-call rota for non-vascular interventions and diagnostic imaging. You will be required to work across various sites within the Trust, with flexibility to move between locations depending on service needs. Qualifications and Experience – Consultant Radiologist To be eligible for this Consultant Radiologist position, you must meet the following criteria: Essential Qualifications: MB BS or equivalent medical qualification. Full GMC registration with a licence to practise. FRCR or equivalent post-graduate qualification. Accredited for higher specialist training in radiology, or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within six months of interview. Experience: Extensive experience in general radiology with subspecialty expertise in Intervention and imaging. Experience in acute imaging services, including trauma and emergency care. Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, providing leadership and mentoring to junior staff. Previous involvement in clinical audits and quality improvement projects within radiology. Desirable Qualifications/Experience: Subspecialty fellowship or postgraduate qualification in Interventional radiology. Experience in teaching and training, with an interest in medical education.
