We have a fantastic opportunity for a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Wealstun, a Category C male prison with an operational capacity of around 1000. The prison has good transport links, as well as a free onsite car park.
This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities (including training to NVQ Level 3) and is a great environment to build on your experience within the substance misuse service. Hours: This is a full time role, hours per week, and you will work Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 16:00, with occasional weekends. Salary: This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £25,900 per annum - depending on experience. How will we support you?

Main duties of the job
As our new Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
1. Working within the substance misuse team, you will work with Nurses and Nursing Associates in areas such as observations and bloods
2. Provide outstanding quality based care to all patients
3. Deliver personalised, non judgemental care, based on patient feedback
4. Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics
5. Support the nursing and pharmacy teams in primary care on the wings and healthcare centres

Our new Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant will:
17. Hold a NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent
18. Have an interest in mental health, and a desire to help patients suffering with mental health issues
19. Ideally have experience of working with substance misuse, and a knowledge of the substance misuse service
20. Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
