Consultant in Community General Adult Psychiatry
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the team at the North Ceredigion Community Mental Health Team. Hywel Dda University Health Board is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant to join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward looking mental health service.
The successful applicant will provide clinical expertise and strategic leadership as we look to develop our mental health services to meet the population needs of Hywel Dda UHB.
To provide, with consultant colleagues (as appropriate) a service in Adult General Community Psychiatry and supporting the development of sub-speciality interest to the hospitals and community so designated with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.
Main duties of the job
1. To ensure the provision and delivery of a first class clinical service
2. To provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty
3. To sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate
4. To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Health Board's service plans
5. Core clinical expertise in Adult General Psychiatry
6. Generic skills in multidisciplinary assessment and community management of acute and chronic mental health problems
7. Experience and knowledge of running a sub specialty service
8. Supporting and training multidisciplinary teams
9. Delivering care in the community alongside primary health care and social care teams
10. Addressing the Intermediate Care Agenda
11. Participating in CPD including Audit
12. Maintain good standing with Royal College for CPD.
13. You are expected to maintain your professional development for Revalidation
14. Educational Supervisor role to Junior and Middle Grade Medical Staff
15. To undertake regular multidisciplinary clinical audit and provide evidence based medicine

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
* On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due within 6 months of interview date Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
* MRCPsych or FRCPsych or other
* Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
* Approved Clinician Status
* Section 12 approved
* Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent
Clinical Experience
* Broad based experience in General Adult Psychiatry
* Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)
* Knowledge and participation in CPD
* Competence in eg. Acute General and Geriatric Medicine
* Able to apply knowledge
* Safe and effective written and verbal communication skills
* Knowledge and experience of communicating bad news
* Meet the requirement of the GMC's "Good Medical Practice"
* Experience of NHS
* Wider experience, research and training in providing sub specialty service
* Evidence of above average performance
Clinical Governance
* Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice
* Comprehension of core philosophy and building blocks of Clinical Governance
* Knowledge of risk management
