Job Description
Our client in the Not-for-profit sector is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the day-to-day operations, reporting to the Director of Finance. This role will manage key financial functions, including budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls, while supporting financial objectives and enhancing business practices. The Controller will also provide leadership to the finance team and collaborate with various departments to ensure effective financial strategy and decision-making.
Please note: this position requires you to be in Ontario and in the local area, as this is an on-site position.

Responsibilities:
* Lead the financial operations to meet its strategic, financial, and accounting objectives.
* Oversee billing, collections, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and procurement.
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing variance analysis to support reporting.
* Assist with budget preparation and develop working papers for financial planning.
* Support payroll operations and collaborate with the Payroll Manager.
* Recommend and implement internal controls and financial policies to safeguard assets and support risk management functions.
* Manage the year-end audit process and act as a liaison with external auditors.
* Oversee tax-related programs, including charity programs, GST/HST filings, and regulatory compliance with federal and provincial legislation.
Qualifications:
* CPA is strongly preferred.
* Not-for-profit experience is an asset.
* An experienced Controller with strong communication skills.
