We’re looking for a Data Analytics Lead to join our established Insight and Analytics team. The team supports the RNLI by providing analysis of data to support decision making at strategic and tactical levels across the Institution. Our evidence informs operational decisions about the allocation and location of RNLI resources, including lifeboats, lifeguard units and coastal safety, as well as strategic decisions around training, volunteering and safety. You’ll be leading the data analytics team and performing analysis of data and supporting your team members to do the same. You will lead the work to apply analytical tools, models and methods to complex problems, providing evidence and insights to support robust, high-quality decision making, and working closely with customers to ensure the consumption of insight in decision making and planning. As a trusted analytical expert, you will work with experts throughout the RNLI, supporting their work and empowering them to use the data, tools and techniques that your team employ and striving for quality and consistency in our institutional insight. In this role, you will also identify and drive opportunities to improve our data and our analysis tools and processes. You will advocate for the benefits of a data-led approach and the positive outcomes it generates, engaging with wider stakeholders to promote these practices. About You We are looking for who is confident applying analytical techniques and research to real-world decision-making processes and has an organised and structured, yet flexible approach to their work. Our Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience of presenting technical subjects confidently to a range of internal and external audiences Experience of leading a team to produce analytical insight to inform decisions (preferably in blue light or equivalent environments) Significant experience of using technical tools to produce analysis (e.g. Power BI, Python, SQL, ArcGIS) Demonstrable ability to design and manage analytical projects with an inquisitive approach, identifying underlying issues and exploring innovative solutions Mathematical or data qualification, preferably at degree level or above It is also desirable that you have experience of making and maintaining relevant relationships with technical teams and policy customers, experience of drafting papers for senior managers and committees on technical subjects and an understanding of the RNLI and / or the maritime, marine, or coastal environment So if this sounds like you, and you are someone who enjoys working to deliver robust data and analysis to underpin key business decisions, and you want to help support our organisation’s aim to reduce coastal drowning, this could be the role for you.
