If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Senior Sister/Charge nurse to lead our friendly team in the Outpatient and X-Ray department in York Hospital, supported by a friendly and forward-thinking management team.
You will oversee and manage the large Outpatient team to assist consultants to run specialist clinics and provide patients with treatments and procedures in a variety of different clinics. You will also work alongside radiologists assisting with procedures requiring radiographic imaging such as ultrasound, CT, and X-ray.
Main duties of the job
1. Work with Matron to lead the development of ward/department nursing practice, reflecting the Directorate's business plan and the Trust's Nursing Strategy.
2. Provide a clinical lead and role model to the nursing team by delivering high-quality care as an expert practitioner.
3. Set, monitor and seek to continuously improve standards and the quality of patient care, including those standards defined in the National and local Benchmarks for Essential Care, including nursing care indicators, High Impact Actions and other outcome measures.
4. Ensure management of clinical services and efficient redeployment of staff according to service needs.
5. Utilise clinical data and patient experience feedback to influence changes in clinical care delivery.
6. Line manage the nursing team, including recruitment, performance management and workforce planning.
7. Ensure the workforce is rostered appropriately.
8. Investigate and respond to accidents, complaints, untoward incidents and other significant events and take appropriate action. Deputise for Matron in their absence and feedback as required.
9. Be responsible for the delivery, monitoring and auditing of standards of care such as cleanliness, quality of food and nutrition and the prevention and control of hospital-acquired infection.
