A leading company in the passenger rail sector is currently recruiting for a Fleet Manager on a Permanent basis.
As Fleet Manager, you will lead and manage a team of Fleet Engineers to develop and improve rolling stock. The team will be involved in identifying, developing, and implementing a range of fleet development initiatives across the fleet to improve safety, reliability, and passenger experience.
The team also provides technical support to business-critical projects and supports the major programme team in outlining specifications through to design, development, approval, and implementation.
You will be involved in:
1. Managing engineering changes and chairing meetings to ensure business-critical changes are being progressed within agreed timescales.
2. Acting as the competent person and approving Engineer changes as part of the Safety Management System.
3. Attending regular meetings on fleet development and representing the company at RoSCo and supplier meetings.
4. Ensuring fleet development activities are managed effectively to reduce potential risks.
5. Supporting materials with technical investigations and determining root cause and failure analysis.
6. Regular reporting on fleet development activities.
7. Management of a diverse workload within a large team of qualified Fleet Engineers.
What they are looking for:
1. Extensive experience in an Engineering Environment within the Rolling Stock sector.
2. Qualifications to HND/HNC minimum within an Engineering Discipline.
3. Knowledge of reliability growth models and techniques, with particular skills in structured problem solving using recognised processes such as FMEA, RCM, RAMS, or FRACAS.
4. Experience in maintenance management, maintenance plans, and documentation is ideal.
5. Proven leadership and management experience, as well as communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Experience in project management, particularly structured time management and planning, resource identification and utilisation, and prioritising.
7. Knowledge of Railway Group Standards, ROGS, and other relevant rail-related standards is ideal, including knowledge of Interoperability (RIR) and Technical Standards for Interoperability.
8. The post holder must be able to attain Personal Track Safety Certification.
The role is days-based working Monday to Friday with future potential for hybrid working. They offer a salary circa £60,000 - £65,000, plus excellent benefits including free rail travel on the relevant network, discounted rail travel on other networks, excellent pension, healthcare, and other comprehensive benefits.
