Hastings Borough Council is seeking a proactive and detail orientated Revenues Officer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for administering the collection of Council Tax and Business rates, ensuring accurate billing, and assisting residents and businesses with their accounts. You will play a key role in maintaining the council’s financial stability while providing excellent customer service to our residents. Key Responsibilities Administer the billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates Process applications for discounts, exemptions, and relief in line with legislation Investigate and resolve customer queries efficiently and professionally. Liaise with residents, businesses, enforcement agents, and other stakeholders Ensure accurate maintenance of records and compliance with data protection laws Assist in identifying and recovering outstanding debts Stay updated with relevant legislation and Council policies. About You The ideal candidate will have: Experience in revenues administration. Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. The ability to work efficiently in a busy environment and meet deadlines. Knowledge of Council Tax and business rates legislation Competency in using NEC back-office system for data entry and case management.
