We are currently recruiting an Accounts Assistant position for SCG Connected located in Dummer, Basingstoke. SCG Connected is part of the Southern Communications Group (SCG) which has been established since 1965. Southern Communications Group provides SME businesses across the UK with a range of services including mobile and fixed-line rentals, broadband and cloud hosting alongside sale, installation and maintenance of telephone systems. The objective is simple – to become the preferred telecom solution provider for SME businesses, backed up by market-leading customer service. SCG has seen rapid expansion over the past seven years with a turnover growing from £10m to over £160m, making it one of the fastest growing UK independent communications companies. Growth has been attributable to a well thought out and executed plan that has combined organic growth with a strong acquisition programme.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in an accounting career or wanting to develop existing skills for a dynamic and fast-paced business with plans to double revenues in the next 3-5 years. As part of a growing finance team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping for SCG Connected and any other Group business run out of the Basingstoke head office. This role reports directly to the Transactional Team Manager and the Group Financial Controller for Direct business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Processing of supplier invoices and payments.
2. Bank statement posting and bank reconciliations.
3. Dealing with supplier queries.
4. Processing employee expenses and payments.
5. Liaising with credit control to resolve any bank receipt queries.
6. Liaising with project teams regarding purchase order invoices and cost reconciliation.
7. Providing support to the financial controller in month-end processing, including analysis.
8. Any other ad hoc project work.
Key Requirements
1. No qualifications are necessary, as full training will be provided.
2. Experience of working within a finance team or similar role.
3. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook would be an advantage.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work within a team.
6. Attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.
