We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Dosimetrist Healthcare Scientist to join our team in a forward-thinking radiotherapy physics department at the Velindre Cancer Service (Satellite Radiotherapy Unit at Neville Hall Hospital).

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to undertake post-graduate development to enable registration with HPC. Support will be provided across all relevant aspects of the syllabus to assist this aim in line with the IPEM POST Programme.
There will be some flexible hours of working and as the Centre provides a wider service, work may be required in the associated hospitals in the locality.
Medical Physics provides all the background scientific and technical data, advice and expertise to the radiotherapy departments for the treatment machines, simulators, computer systems and specialized devices. This is fundamental for patient doses to be prescribed and given correctly, safe operation and staff protection from X-Rays. It includes specifications for the equipment, their calibration and QA, repair & maintenance, data networking and computer control, and individualized patient dose computations. Its constituent sections include machine maintenance & mechanical engineering, brachytherapy, computing & electronics, treatment planning, dosimetry, training & teaching, and R&D. There is also a full Radiation Protection service to all X-Ray users in SE Wales.
