Axcis is collaborating with a special needs primary school in Brent that is seeking a teacher to join their team. The school is committed to supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in an inclusive and nurturing environment. Their approach focuses on helping students develop emotionally, socially, and academically at their own pace. Teaching methods are tailored to the specific needs of young learners with ASD, with an emphasis on communication skills, social interaction, and early academic development through individualized strategies.
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality education that builds on each child’s strengths and ensures their inclusion in the classroom. The school values a child-centered approach and fosters a dynamic, compassionate atmosphere where both students and staff thrive. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Planning and delivering engaging lessons adapted to different learning styles.
2. Implementing structured learning activities that promote communication and emotional regulation.
3. Using visual aids, social stories, and sensory resources to support students effectively.
4. Assessing and monitoring progress.
5. Creating a calm and structured classroom environment.
6. Working closely with teaching assistants, SEN specialists, and other professionals to maintain a consistent and supportive learning experience.
7. Regular communication with parents and carers to share progress, address concerns, and develop strategies for continued learning at home.
8. Ensuring student safety and well-being by following the school’s safeguarding policies, recognizing and reporting any concerns as needed.
9. Providing emotional and pastoral support, ensuring that every child feels respected and valued.
To be considered for this position, you MUST hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have experience working with children with ASD or related special educational needs. A strong understanding of specialized teaching strategies, including visual supports, communication aids, and behavior management techniques, is essential. Excellent communication skills, along with a patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to teaching, are key qualities for success in this role.
