General Practitioner - William Brown Centre
IntraHealth are currently recruiting for a Salaried General Medical Practitioner to help deliver our vision of high-quality medical services at our well-established, progressive, friendly practice team in Peterlee.
We offer a flexible approach to division of roles and responsibilities within our small friendly and experienced practice team. The clinical teams are also well supported by an excellent administration and management team; this allows our GPs to concentrate on clinical work.
We are looking for an enthusiastic experienced GP looking to take a leading role in improving patients outcomes and contributing towards redesigning services locally by representing the practice.

Main duties of the job
* Provide a range of medical services as defined in the core PMS/APMS contract, additional and enhanced services where appropriate.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare works within the organisation.
* Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice; disease management protocols, provide counselling and health education
* Work within current CCG policy for prescribing
* Be available and accessible to patients
* Maximise effective use of current clinical computer systems. Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
* Compile and issue computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
* To take part in/lead on areas including health research, clinical auditing and data collection
* Support the development of the practice to become a GP registrars training practice
* Provide Free certification in line with Schedule 9 of the GMS regulations (1992)
* Provide emergency cover if needed

We serve a range of patients across our three divisions of Primary Care (general practice), Pharmacy and Clinical Services which includes anticoagulation monitoring, patient medication reviews and childhood immunisation programmes.

Our team is made up of GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), Nurses, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Health Care Assistants (HCAs) and local administration teams supported by a centralised back office function; providing finance, HR, administration and data analysis support.
We operate NHS services across the North East, North West and Yorkshire.
Job responsibilities
Service Development
* Be involved in developing primary care services to meet the needs of the practice population.
* Working in close collaboration with the practice team to ensure that access targets are reached.
* Work with the practice team to ensure that immunisation and health inequalities targets as defined within the PMS contract are reached.
* Support health development and ensure health promotion work is undertaken to allow the practice population to make informed choices.
* Ensure the practice is represented at appropriate meetings, e.g. Practice Based Commissioning Groups.
Managerial
* Awareness of, and compliance with, all relevant organisation policies and procedures, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety and infection control. Apply these to all aspects of one’s own work.
* Committed to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based practice.

* Contribute to summarising of patient records and read-coding patient data.
