We are looking for new people to join our Board of Trustees.
Bath Preservation Trust (BPT) is a change-making architectural and cultural heritage charity operating in the double inscribed World Heritage city of Bath. We advocate for design excellence and sustainability in the historic environment and contemporary urban and landscape development, working closely with designers, planners and many stakeholders locally and nationally.
BPT also operates four museums – No. 1 Royal Crescent, the Herschels Museum of Astronomy, Beckford’s Tower and Landscape and the Museum of Bath Architecture.
We are on a journey of rapid change as we seek to deliver more social value through our advocacy work and further our engagement with global narratives and perspectives through our museums.
In particular, we are looking for new trustees who may have skills in any of the following areas:
1. Charity Finance: The role involves working closely with our Director of Finance and advising the Board on budgets and significant financial decisions, and on the suitability of our risk management framework.
2. Architecture, Design and Sustainability: We are seeking at least one trustee who can help us be the champion and guardian of Bath’s built and green environment, with a focus on sustainability and design excellence, while mindful of Bath’s status as a double-inscribed UNESCO World Heritage Site.
3. Capital Project Management: Over the next few years we intend to undertake significant revisioning of two of our existing museums, and with the potential to add to our heritage property portfolio. We would like a trustee who can steer the board and encourage staff through these significant capital projects. Experience as a charity trustee or board member is desirable, but not essential.
