An exciting job opportunity has become available on the Neonatal Unit at Leighton Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven and experienced Neonatal Nurse with a passion for education to join us as the lead for Neonatal Education and Development.
We are a 15 bedded Level 2 Neonatal Unit with 3 Intensive Care cots, 4 High Dependency Cots and 8 Special Care Cots. We strive to provide excellent care for our babies and families, and the training and education of staff is fundamental to the safe running and development of the ward.

Although the education role hours are set at 33.75 hours per week at Band 7, there is the possibility of negotiating extra hours as a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to make up to full time. The Band 6 hours would be shift work comprising of days, nights and weekends.
There is also the possibility of this role being a job share if there was more than one appointable candidate agreeable to this, giving the opportunity for part time hours, or the possibility of having a dual role with Band 6 clinical hours too.

Responsibilities:
1. Act as a specialist in education and practice development issues within Neonatal education.
2. Support other members of the senior team including the Ward Manager, Matron and Head of Nursing in the development and delivery of patient focused, evidence based care.
3. Be a highly visible role model, demonstrating high standards of practice and supporting staff development.
4. Contribute to the review and update of Neonatal policies and procedures.
5. Plan and organize own workload as an autonomous practitioner.
6. Participate in change management and quality improvement initiatives.
7. Identify staff training and education requirements to improve practice on the Neonatal Unit.
8. Maintain training records and compile reports.
