Due to rapid expansion and an impressive 3-year growth plan, a fast-growing SME manufacturing business based in Hull is looking for a Financial Controller to work closely with the business to achieve the 3-year plan, growing revenue from £8 Million Turnover to £30 Million Turnover in 3 Years.
This is an opportunity for someone to come in and make a stamp on the Finance function, developing and implementing policies and procedures whilst also mentoring an established finance team.
The Role:
As the new Financial Controller, you'll be the number-crunching maestro who keeps our finances in harmony. Your job is crucial—you'll be designing and implementing financial strategies, creating budgets, and ensuring our financial health stays robust. We need someone with a mind for numbers, a knack for problem-solving, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with the wider business and our business partners.
Key Projects to get involved in:
* Develop improved management accounts reporting with Finance Manager
* Ensure robust cashflow management and reporting
* Develop board pack reports
* Develop team members
* Support continued improvement of SAP
* Support Project accountant with relevant project performance reporting
* Improve month-end close routine
Duties involve:
* Managing the Finance department reporting directly to the Fractional CFO and dotted line into the MD
* Responsible for a team of 5 in Finance: 1 Finance Manager and 1 Project Accountant and 2 Transactional Controllers
* Production of financial accounts on a monthly basis and budgets in a timely and effective manner.
* To manage external relationships with finance providers, banks, auditors, and tax authorities
* To drive strategy with commercial insight, meaningful analysis, and thorough review of performance and future plans
* Monitoring cash flow, accounts, and financial transactions to maintain accuracy and compliance
* To develop and implement efficient and effective financial policies that create strong internal controls to ensure the accurate recording of financial transactions and appropriate governance of the business
* To be a key member of the management team, role model, promoting financial consideration in all decision-making.
* Analysing financial data and providing monthly insightful reports to guide decision-making.
* Collaborating with other functions to offer financial guidance and support
* Developing and implementing internal controls and processes to safeguard company assets.
* Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards to minimize risks.
* Manage and maintain our relationships with key external stakeholders, such as our bankers, auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions.
* Continuously seeking opportunities for process improvements and cost savings to drive business growth and profitability.
The Ideal candidate:
* Happy working in a hands-on Financial Controller role
* Understanding of Group Accounting and Intercompany Accounts would be highly desirable
* Personable and able to build rapport with the wider business (Operations, Sales, Senior Management)
* Want to be part of a growing business with the opportunity to grow with the company
* Open to looking at Financial Controllers or Finance Managers looking for a step up
