Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone who can:
Promote Speech and Language Therapy within the school and beyond, sharing your passion for intervention and evidence based practice.
Lead strategic planning meetings with the deputy of Speeceh & Language Therapy, shaping the therapy departments approach.
Supervise the work of junior therapists, assistants, SaLT students and volunteers and provide managerial guidance and support.
Co-ordinate and encourage the running of projects which contribute to evidence base.

JOB OVERVIEW
This is a postwithin the Senior Leadership Team.
To beaccountable for the delivery of speech & language therapy for studentswithin the school (and any outreach provision) ensuring the service iseffective, well-co-ordinated and operates in close collaboration with StCatherines education and care teams to provide integrated support for studentson an individualised basis according to their needs.
There is anexpectation that the post holder will provide professional leadership andmanagement to ensure the delivery of high quality speech & language therapy,the effective use of resources and appropriate standards of learning andachievement for students. The postholder will be expected to have strong knowledge of SEND and to keep theirknowledge and skills up-to-date, be self-critical and receptive tofeedback. The post holder will have toforge positive professional relationships and work with other therapists,professionals, partner organisations and parents/carers in the best interestsof students.
The postholder will be accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in workand conduct and will be expected to act with honesty and integrity at alltimes.
The visionand values of the school must be actively followed and embodied. The post holder will be expected to make anactive contribution towards whole school aims, policies and priorities and tothe overall education and achievement of all students.

As part of the SeniorLeadership Team, to develop the work of St Catherines, contributing to and supportingwhole school improvement.
To work with a specificcaseload of students (caseload to be decided).
To manage and monitor thespeech & language therapy budget.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working with young people with complex speech, language and communication needs and associated conditions.
* Experience of multi-disciplinary, multi agency team working.
* Substantial knowledge and skill in using and assessing total communication environments.
* Sound knowledge/experience of effective teaching methods and techniques for communication and interaction.

* To be a registered member of the Health and Care Professions' Council
* and the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists.
Qualifications
* Degree in Speech & Language Therapy
