An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic pharmacists to join our team of pharmacists and medicines management technicians across the medical departments at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role encompasses a variety of specialty and surgical rotations including:
* Acute Admissions Units
* Short Stay Unit
* Endocrinology
* Respiratory Medicine
* Neurology Medicine
* Care of the Elderly
This is a challenging and dynamic role that will allow successful applicants to strengthen their clinical knowledge and expertise, whilst also enhancing their consultation and assessment skills. Additionally, you will also be able to develop your negotiation, influencing, leadership and management skills. In doing so, you will be required to:
* Act as a positive role model for medicines management and medicines optimisation for pharmacy colleagues and other health care professionals,
* Utilise transcribing or prescribing skills effectively to enhance patient care and patient safety,
* Continually monitor performance and productivity, developing and piloting new ways of working to improve efficiency and patient outcomes,
* Be involved in the preparation of policies and procedures,
* Be involved in risk reporting and management,
* Provide relevant and up to date education and training to pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals.
Main duties of the job
The pharmacy department at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will be dedicated to your development, supporting you in your new role with various internal and external educational opportunities available to help you further develop both your clinical and professional skills. The department hosts over 180 members of staff and provides a stimulating, friendly, and professionally rewarding environment for staff to develop their clinical expertise and professionalism.
The successful candidate will work full time hours 8.30am-5pm Monday - Friday, and will also be included in extended hours, weekend and on-call rotas, which are currently:
* 1 day weekend working once every 5 weeks (reimbursed with a weekday off the following week),
* 1 'late night' shift every 2 weeks (working hours 9am-5.30pm),
* On call duties on a rolling rota basis, approximately 1 in 40.

Leadership and Improvement Training
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme, and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. This programme aims to:
* Explore leadership within the NHS
* Promote Trust Values and Behaviours
* Develop your Leadership effectiveness and skills
* Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead and complete quality improvement within your role
After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.

Person Specification
Qualification
* Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent relevant postgraduate clinical qualification (or actively working towards)
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Independent Prescribing or working towards
Experience
* Wealth of experience in clinical pharmacy within a hospital setting
* Experience of providing directorate level pharmacist services e.g. budgetary reports, drug usage reviews
* Developments of protocols and policies
* Experience of developing strong professional relationships with other healthcare professionals
* Experience of leading and contributing to relevant research, audit and service improvement projects
* Staff leadership and management experience
* Experience in mentorship and training for other staff
