General Maintenance Operative - Fabric

Job Objectives and Responsibilities
1. The role involves completing planned and reactive maintenance and monitoring of all prison fabrics within scope.
2. You will conduct tasks in compliance with Company Safety Policy, Procedures, relevant Codes of Practice, NR, and Statutory Regulations, ensuring adherence to the Company's and Clients' Permit to Work Systems.
3. Completing Planned Preventive Maintenance and Helpdesk tasks to ensure contract compliance is essential, as is maintaining SHE standards.
4. You will liaise with engineers and subcontractors, develop a detailed knowledge and understanding of the site engineering services, and be fully aware of contractual requirements from the engineering brief.
5. Supporting the development and communication of best working practices is part of the role.
6. You must understand and complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time, coordinate connections to existing plant/systems, and effectively use and maintain O&M Manuals and quality procedures.
7. Availability for scheduled and unplanned weekend working is required.
8. Compliance with company and statutory regulations relating to safe systems of work, health and safety, hygiene, cleanliness, and localised fire regulation procedures is mandatory.
The site is a 24-hour 365-day operation, and the expectation is that the engineering team will work to a shift rota pattern and offer out of hours call out functions.
Person Specification
1. The candidate must possess one of the following certificates: Apprenticeship or equivalent, IOSH or equivalent, C&G/BTEC Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Engineering Parts 1, 2, and 3, NVQ with multi-skilled engineering Level 3, C&G 2079 F Gas or equivalent, HVAC or gas equivalent, or C&G 2391/2 18th edition IEE regulations.
2. Previous relevant experience in providing electrical maintenance services in a large complex environment is essential.
3. The candidate should have basic to intermediate IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with some experience in updating central data systems.
4. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and self-motivation.
5. Substantial practical experience with a comprehensive knowledge of all building services disciplines, including heating, hot water, ventilation, refrigeration, environmental systems, electrical power and distribution, and public health, is necessary.
6. The candidate should be a team worker with flexibility within contracted hours, a strong team player with a can-do attitude, and possess an intuitive and proactive nature.
7. High moral standards and absolute integrity are also required.
