Are you a driven and registered Pharmacy Technician?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy Procurement Team. You should have good communication skills and be able to work accurately within a busy Pharmacy setting.
This is a secondment post.
Main duties of the job
* To assist the Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist in the provision and development of the efficient purchasing of pharmaceuticals and Homecare service.
* To assist the Systems and Purchasing Administrator manager to develop and deliver training to Pharmacy colleagues and other Trust healthcare professionals.
* To assist the Systems Manager and Purchasing Administrator in developing reports from the JAC computer system and the administration of the JAC system.
* To assist in the supervision and education of trainees in Purchasing and Homecare.
* To assist the Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist with auditing the service.
* To act as an Accredited Checking Technician within the dispensary at Whiston hospital on a pre-determined rota.
* To participate in the department rota to ensure a pharmacy service is provided efficiently over 7 days.
Person specification
Qualifications
* BTEC, NC & NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Service skills or GPhC recognised equivalent.
* Registered as a practising Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC.
* BTEC accredited checking qualification or equivalent recognised by the dept or willing to work towards within 12 months of starting employment.
Knowledge & Experience
* Substantial post-qualification experience working in a pharmaceutical environment.
* Experience of dispensing for discharge and medicines management.
* Experience in using the JAC pharmacy computer system.
* Knowledge of LEAN principles.
Skills
* Demonstrates ability to motivate team performance to achieve objectives.
* Good verbal communication skills both face to face and using telephones.
* Ability to talk to patients, staff and other senior health care professionals.
* Ability to concentrate for long periods of time and able to work under pressure.
* Ability to work accurately and efficiently with good attention to detail.
* Well organised with good time management skills.
Other
* Ability to travel various hospital locations by own car/assisted driver.
* Ability to participate in the department rota for 7-day working.
* Supportive of colleagues of all grades.
