Permit Engineer Nuclear
Security Clearance: The ability to obtain BC is essential for the role.
To function as part of a multi-disciplined team to energise, isolate and commission specific systems/equipment in a safe, effective and timely manner.
Safety Accountabilities:
1. Ensure all Permit Office activities are carried out in accordance with all Site Licence, Environmental, Regulatory and Industry requirements, including HSG250 and HSG253.
2. Ensuring a proactive and balanced approach to safety (Nuclear, Environmental and Conventional) to ensure that Permit Office safety is optimised during commissioning.
3. Advise and support the Permit Office Manager in confirming that plant and equipment can be safely energised to carry out meaningful testing.
Quality Accountabilities:
1. Carrying out all Permit Office activities in line with the approved test documentation and relevant Commissioning Management Procedures.
2. Maintain all documentation associated with Permit Office activities.
3. Ensure all Permit Office test equipment is calibrated and has certification.
Additional Accountabilities:
1. Carry out all energisation and isolation activities in a safe, effective and timely manner through all stages of commissioning.
2. Liaise with all supporting functions including Site Construction and Operations Teams to complete energisations and isolations effectively.
3. Maintain a close working relationship with the engineers involved with interfacing systems and areas.
4. Communicate technical information within own areas of expertise to a wide variety of supporting functions through the use of reports etc.
5. To assist in the development of plans, strategies and programmes in support of efficient and effective Permit Office activities.
6. To provide input as a Key Stakeholder to the Risk Assessment process.
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
1. Appropriate technical qualification (C&G, ONC, HNC) in an engineering discipline.
2. Has had previous experience as a Permit Engineer in the commissioning of nuclear or similar plants.
Design Tools / Software:
1. Competent in the use of standard Microsoft IT packages e.g. Word and Excel.
