Hitachi Energy is renowned worldwide as a specialist for power transmission and distribution. We are currently recruiting a Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) & Installation Commissioning (I&C) Manager to work with our High Voltage Business Unit. High Voltage is responsible for the worldwide after-sales support of gas insulated switchgears (GIS), including training, installation and commissioning, scheduled maintenance, added value services, troubleshooting, extensions, retrofits, and replacements. Within this role, you'll coordinate site activities in advance with the Project Managers and GIS Technical Advisors, including lookahead of activities and meetings, whilst coordinating with Hitachi Energy Project Managers on establishing the status of completed and non-completed work.
Your responsibilities:
1. You will be supporting the installation work entrusted to you, ensuring it is carried out in perfect technical order and performing installation and maintenance work independently.
2. Responsible for ensuring compliance with the installation requirements and instructions, and ensuring that the necessary accident prevention measures are observed; specifically abiding by the guidelines for work on live system components.
3. You will be responsible for red-marking drawings or documents with any changes or modifications that become necessary during the installation.
4. Advising the sub-suppliers' installation superintendent in planning and coordination of the workforce necessary to comply with the schedule.
5. Issuing non-conformance reports for damage or missing equipment within the scope of supply in cooperation with the Project Manager.
6. You will be supervising final installation tests and installation completion documentation, coordinating the loop check activities, and participating in site meetings as requested by the Project Manager.
7. You shall also carry out any tasks assigned by management necessary to fulfill the job requirements.
Background:
1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar.
2. Proven Gas Insulated Switchgear and installation and commissioning product knowledge.
3. Strong health and safety awareness on and off site.
4. Experience in team management skills leading a multi-disciplined team.
5. Providing mentoring and support to team members where required.
6. Able to be in Stone (Staffordshire) at least 2x a week.
