Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Support Ratio: 2:2:1 (two support staff for one child)
Hours: 15 hours per week
Rate: Up to £20 per hour (DOE)
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team providing 2:2:1 support for a primary-aged child with autism in their home environment. This role is ideal for someone dedicated to making a meaningful impact by helping this child develop skills, engage in learning, and thrive in a consistent, nurturing setting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work collaboratively with another support staff member to deliver tailored, focused support for the child.
* Establish a safe, positive, and structured environment, adapting to the child’s specific needs, routines, and learning style.
* Use autism-specific strategies to foster communication, social skills, and sensory regulation.
* Engage the child in activities appropriate to their developmental level and interests, encouraging learning and growth.
* Maintain detailed records of the child’s progress, noting challenges, improvements, and adjustments in behavior and learning.
* Communicate regularly with the family and any involved professionals to ensure cohesive, holistic support.
Requirements:
* Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience working with children with autism
* Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in SEN or child care (e.g., CACHE Level 3, SEN Teaching Assistant certification, or equivalent)
Skills:
* Strong understanding of autism and experience with autism-specific strategies.
* Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting children with additional needs.
* Excellent communication skills for collaboration with team members and family.
Additional Requirements: Enhanced DBS check and flexibility for occasional changes in hours if needed.
