We are currently recruiting to join our friendly team at our Linford Block Plant, located near Stanford-le-Hope in Essex. The site is accessible from Tilbury, Gravesend, Rochester, Gillingham, Dartford, Purfleet on Thames, Grays, Wickford, Southend-on-Sea, Basildon, Brentwood, Billericay, and surrounding areas.
Our Linford Plant manufactures sustainable, tough, and energy-efficient aerated blocks used in homes and workplaces, so you are never far from one of our products.
The Shift Supervisor will work as part of the site production team, focusing on delivering and leading in SHE standards and meeting financial and operational targets. Responsibilities include ensuring the safe operation of the plant, completing daily tasks such as site housekeeping and basic maintenance, and managing the safe and efficient operation of mobile and fixed plant. The role requires leadership within the shift, coordination of labor, and training and development of team members. Flexibility and building good working relationships are essential.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Labour utilisation within budgeted controls.
2. Training and development of the team.
3. Supervise team and manage contractors and haulier engagement.
4. Prioritize planned works.
5. Ensure adherence to Health & Safety rules and meet safety/operational performance targets, promoting a culture of safety.
6. Comply with all Tarmac/CRH Policies & Procedures.
7. Support continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental standards.
8. Support process, plant, and production improvements.
9. Complete operator preventative maintenance tasks effectively.
10. Balance operational and housekeeping tasks efficiently.
11. Maintain mobile plant cleanliness standards.
12. Ensure daily compliance checks and standards are met.
13. Build relationships with other production and maintenance personnel.
14. Maintain good timekeeping and flexibility.
15. Ensure high-quality products are produced efficiently.
16. Complete and record site inspections.
17. Read, understand, and sign method statements and risk assessments for all activities.
18. Participate actively in daily and weekly safety briefings.
19. Identify SHE improvement opportunities.
20. Comply with planning and operational restrictions (site boundaries, noise, dust, hours, etc.).
21. Accurately record daily KPIs and work with the team to meet targets.
22. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities and best practices.
23. Manage daily plant operations according to SOPs.
24. Coordinate maintenance activities with the maintenance team/contractors during normal operations and shutdowns.
Ideal candidates will have:
* Manufacturing process experience.
* Heavy plant and equipment experience.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
