About the Role Mechanical Engineer Are you a Mechanical Engineer with experience of fault finding across mechanical systems? Do you have experience working in a heavily regulated Industry or nuclear power? The Opportunity As a Mechanical Engineer within the Work Engineering Group (WEG), the core responsibility in this role is to provide engineered solutions to identified work, supporting the delivery of both planned and emergent work. You’ll undertake activities consistent with agreed safety and quality standards, ensuring compliance with HSE and Site Licence Conditions. Pay, Benefits and Culture The salary range associated with this role is between £44,117 - £92,778; however, the starting salary will be within the range of £44,117 - £78,541, allowing room for career advancement. What you will be doing You’ll be carrying out the following Roles and Responsibilities: Engineer and specify work packages to achieve station objectives, using systematic application of the Work Management Process (AP928). Utilise your operational experience in line with the stations’ Corrective Action Programme. Write and approve work order cards (Safe Systems of Work) that contain engineered solutions to correctly reported defects; specifying additional tasks to support the repair ensuring that correct resources, materials and procedures are planned into the work package. Provide advice and information to improve maintenance work instructions and check sheets. Provide task related Risk Assessments (in line with HSE’s five steps to risk assessment). Ensure that existing routine work packages and those prepared by the WEG contain the appropriate information to support successful work execution by the maintenance teams in accordance with applicable standards, practices and expectations. Support emergent issues identified during execution week. Support both statutory and fuel route outages. Who you are As a minimum, you will have an HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). A background in Mechanical Engineering / Maintenance in heavy industry is essential. You should have a proven track record of troubleshooting and fault-finding on Mechanical systems including Rotating Plant, Diesel Generators, Hydraulics, Steam, water and Gas systems. A basic understanding of the operation of an AGR Power Station would be beneficial, however, extensive training will be provided to the successful candidate. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are paramount. To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
