Healthcare Assistant - Older Adult Inpatient Services

We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to be part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team working at our older adult inpatient ward based at Thurrock Community Hospital.
Meadowview inpatient facility provides care to older people, over the age of 65, suffering from mental health problems where the issues are deemed to be such that admission to hospital is the only safe option.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for undertaking assigned tasks that involve direct patient care in inpatient settings.
The post involves supporting individual patients in all aspects of their care including daily living needs as outlined in the patients' individualised care plan.

Job responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for reporting any relevant changes in the patient's condition to the qualified staff. Furthermore, the post holder will assist in the physical care and support of people with mental health needs, providing person-centred care and working within the Recovery Model to enable patients to become socially inclusive, whilst supporting qualified staff to ensure the highest standards of care are upheld.

Education/ Qualifications
* Previous experience of working within care
* NVQ Care or Equivalent
Knowledge
* Literate in IT/Computer Skills
* Awareness of Infection control issues
* Health and Safety Awareness
Skills/Experience
* Good oral communication skills based on fluency in the English language
* Assist in the provision and care to patients
* Competence to function in a busy ward environment
* Able to operate physical health equipment (post training in the devices)
* Sound observation skills and the ability to communicate and escalate effectively
* Ability to provide concise and accurate feedback
