An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join our team within the Ophthalmology Directorate.
The successful candidate will be based at the new South East Wales Regional Ophthalmology Centre, Llanwenarth Suite, Nevill Hall Hospital but with the expectation that they may be required to work at different locations across Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to support Ophthalmology services.
The Regional Ophthalmology Centre is anticipated to provide a fully integrated pre-admission and treatment centre and will provide cataract surgery for patients from Cwm Taff, Cardiff and the Vale and Aneurin Bevan geographical areas.
Candidates should have excellent communication skills, be reliable, hard working and work well within a team. The ideal candidate will be expected to demonstrate commitment to their own personal development and show keen interest in the future development of health care within Ophthalmology services.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced-based nursing care, working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
To contribute to the smooth running of the department in terms of taking charge of the department in the absence of the department manager and deputy, assisting in all clinical areas as required.
To participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
To act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
The post holder will work within both ophthalmic theatre, day case and pre-assessment areas to meet the needs of the service on days across the whole week including weekends when required.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
