Job Title: Site Commissioning Engineer
Prysmian Group’s business is the area of the High Voltage (HV) business dedicated to providing specialist technical services to a wide range of customers. Our ENS business operates a team of engineers, cable jointers and fluid technicians and our 24-hour call out rota system couples with our emergency hotline to ensure that we can provide a response 24 hours a day.
We currently have a vacancy for a Site Commissioning Engineer, based in our Bishopstoke site. Reporting to the Commissioning & Diagnostics Manager, you will be responsible for the planning and commissioning of High Voltage cable installations throughout the UK, as part of the HV Systems Department. The position will cover, but not be limited to, the following duties:
1. Planning and progress of High Voltage testing – liaising regularly with project manager, site manager, and site engineers regarding cable commissioning.
2. Interfacing with the Commissioning Manager to gather information, plan, and complete projects accurately, allowing the production of accurate costs.
3. Communicating the plans and variations to the appropriate persons (Test Engineering Manager, project managers, site engineers, etc).
4. Performing site assessments prior to high voltage testing and producing detailed, site-specific method statements and risk assessments.
5. Writing up commissioning procedures and reports following site commissioning activities.
6. Carrying out the erection and setup of test equipment defined by the Commissioning Manager and Test team.
7. Working as part of a small team, travelling and working together on-site to a high level of professional expectation.
8. Organizing Test Department and subcontractor resources to achieve the test program.
9. Coordinating the ongoing maintenance, calibration, and repair of test equipment.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Very good computer literacy: Particularly regarding Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Planner, etc.) with the capability of writing technical reports of high quality.
* Electrical engineering background: Preferable with experience of working in a high voltage environment. An interest in the fundamentals of Electrical Engineering is desired.
* Communication skills: Team working aptitude particularly as this role requires working with a close team of people.
* Able to prioritize workload: To meet deadlines.
* Travel requirements: A driving licence is essential; ability to work away for weekdays, weekends, or bank holidays as required by the test program.
* Flexibility: To fulfil the dynamic nature of the test program. A CSCS Safety Passport and/or National Grid Persons Accreditation qualification would be an advantage.
* Fully flexible: In terms of availability to work away from home, at weekends and occasionally during Bank Holidays.
