As a Commercial Solicitor, you'll play a crucial role in providing high-quality legal counsel and support across the organisation. Your key responsibilities will include:
Legal Advice and Support:
* Provide high-quality legal advice on charity law and regulatory compliance.
* Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents.
Governance and Compliance:
* Ensure compliance with charity law, company law, and other relevant legislation.
* Advise on charity governance, including board and committee structures.
Risk Management:
* Identify and assess legal risks, providing practical solutions.
* Manage disputes and litigation, coordinating with external legal counsel.
Training and Capacity Building:
* Deliver training sessions on relevant legal issues.
* Promote legal literacy within the organization.
Collaboration and Communication:
* Work closely with legal and cross-functional teams.
* Communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
What You'll Need to Succeed
* Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 3-4 years PQE.
* Proven experience in a similar role within a charity or non-profit organisation, or relevant experience in private practice.
* In-depth understanding of charity law, company law, and regulatory frameworks.
* Strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently.
* Passion for our mission and values, with a commitment to humanitarian principles.
* A valid DBS check.
