An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed midwife with strong clinical leadership and facilitation skills has arisen. The successful applicant will work 37.5 hours per week within our Maternity Services overseeing the provision of care for women and families requiring additional support within the complexity of Perinatal Optimisation.
The Perinatal Optimisation Specialist Midwife will take responsibility for the ongoing development and provision of care to families accessing the support of the specialist perinatal services within the antenatal clinic setting whilst working closely with other specialist members of the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure that care provided to women and their babies is both safe and effective.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work from East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust providing collaborative care as part of the multi professional team (MDT). They will be the lead midwife in coordinating the care and support of women who are at an increased risk of preterm labour and birth, those suspected or confirmed preterm labour, or those who are having a planned preterm birth (in order to reduce or prevent fetal or maternal compromise).
The post holder will work closely with maternal medicine and fetal medicine midwives in order to plan and coordinate care, with the woman at the centre of decision making. The post holder will have responsibility for leading the development of the perinatal optimisation service, ensuring a high standard of care is delivered. As an expert lead midwife for perinatal optimisation, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring the assessment of care needs and development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care are maintained to a high standard. They will manage the reporting aspects of the preterm birth and Perinatal Optimisation services, and ensure cost effective use of resources.
