Job summary We have available: 1 X Full -time, 37.5 hour per week position and 1 x 20 per week position available (Permanent) An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person with a caring and friendly nature to join the Phlebotomy Team at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, CDC Telford and Whitchurch Community Hospital. Working on Wards and in the community. This is a Trainee Phlebotomist post. Full and extensive departmental training will be given to the successful candidate. We are recruiting for a full and part time vacancy, to include weekends and bank holidays. This will be on a Rota basis and time off will we given when on weekend duty. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, be able to work under pressure, have an approachable nature, ability to fulfil the travel requirements and the ability to record data accurately. Full and extensive departmental training will be given. Shifts will vary according to service needs so flexibility is important. Main duties of the job The successful applicant will be part of a team that provides a phlebotomy service to The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. Duties will include - Collection of blood samples by venepuncture from adults in general practice, ward and outpatient setting. Collection of blood samples by venepuncture from children age 12 months and over in outpatients or children's clinics. Recording and labelling of samples. Delivery of samples to the laboratory: by hand, via the hospital vacuum air tube system, by portering staff and transport systems. We cover inpatients (PRH/RSH only) and outpatients at all 4 sites, providing a service for both GP's and consultants.
