Joining our Financial Assessments and Benefits team as a Residential Assessment Officer, you’ll work in a role that is interesting, varied, and occasionally challenging, and be rewarded with a supportive and inclusive work environment. The Financial Assessments and Benefits service is centred around ensuring that Adults’ Health and Care service users know how much they may need to contribute towards their care and assisting them with benefits they may be entitled to claim.
What you'll do:
• Carry out financial assessments for vulnerable service users needing permanent residential care using the national Care Act legislation guidance.
• Determine how much service users will be required to contribute towards the cost of residential care services provided by Hampshire County Council.
• Clearly explain how contributions are calculated.
• Identify any welfare benefits service users may be due.
• Use excellent communication skills and ability to prioritise workloads to deliver great customer service.
• Overcome objections in a calm and professional manner and explain complex legislation as required.

• Ability to be empathetic and professional in all client interactions.
• Confidence in working autonomously, making decisions, and using IT skills to enhance your work efficiency.
• Experience in managing upset or emotional responses effectively.
