Job Purpose: The purpose of this role is to lead a small team of technicians to ensure that there are no torque escapes from site, non-compliant torque audit results are driven to resolution and that all measurement devices are calibrated as required. Key Duties & Responsibilities: There are 2 key responsibilities. Firstly, lead a small team of technicians to complete torque audits, prevent non-compliant escapes from the facility, log all non-compliances to a CCAR, collaborate with cross functional teams to drive these to resolution and support the production line for all torque related issues. Secondly, lead the team to manage the master calibration database for all measurement devices across all sites, seek the most efficient means of completing calibration tests, and ensure that all equipment is in calibration and ready for production use. The role requires the collection of data to support investigations into sources of variation in torque results through data analysis (including CAD analysis), torque test trials, process analysis and cross functional reviews. Qualification & Experience: Deep understanding of why torque is measured, how it relates to mechanical joint design and function Experience of taking torque measurement using multiple methods and understand the implications/limitations of different methods Fundamental understanding of the principles of calibration Hands on experience of calibration of automotive production gauges and tools Deep engineering knowledge of manufacturing tooling and processes to achieve torque targets Computer literacy including good knowledge of Excel. Statistical analysis of torque data Demonstrated experience of driving complex torque issues through to resolution Potential to lead and coach a small team of technicians External calibration test house relationships.
