This role plays an integral part of the Data Engineering Team, which is implementing a modern analytics solution for Openwork, using Databricks. As a flexible individual with great problem-solving and communication skills you will bring your proven Azure data engineering expertise to provide technical leadership and apply proven practical experience to deliver a modern cloud analytics solution, while at the same time developing the skills of the less experienced members of the team. To be considered for this position you will need to have experience having implemented Databricks or a warehouse using Databricks. This is a hybrid role based in our Swindon office, with 2 days a week required in the office. UK immigration sponsorship available for this opportunity. Your responsibilities will include: Hands-on experience in building Databricks based DWH as per medallion architecture. Architecture, design, development, and delivery of enterprise grade data solutions within Microsoft Azure. Guide and support junior colleagues to develop their data engineering skills in Azure. Work closely with analysts, architects, and stakeholders to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions. Provide technical leadership in building out a cloud analytics solution. Stay up to date on evolving technologies in this field and ensure the Data Platform and the engineering team running it, remain current and adhere to the relevant data governance and compliance policies. Act as the technical product owner for the cloud analytics platform (incl. data warehouse, operational data store, semantic layer, and reference data solution). Provide technical direction for Data and Business Analysts on the Data Transformation rules for mapping specifications. What will you need to succeed? Hands-on experience in building Databricks based DWH as per medallion architecture. Experience in a commercial environment delivering data solutions within the following subject areas: relational database design, data warehouse reference architectures, data migration, MI/BI reporting. Proven hands-on Azure Data Engineering experience in delivering pragmatic, data-led solutions to solve critical business challenges. Strong Microsoft Azure expertise including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse. Experience working in an Agile environment (ideally utilising Azure DevOps). Leading data technologies, data storage solutions, data warehousing, data science and IT infrastructure design. Knowledge of data architectural patterns and data modelling (e.g., Kimball).
