Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Transcriptionist Team Leader to join our Administrative Team based at Leigh Moss Hospital, 7 Thomas Lane, Liverpool, L14 5NX.
The post holder will provide support to Consultants, Junior Doctors and Clinical Team within this service. Our team supports people who have mental health illness and are being treated in the Community.
Successful applicants will be able to organise their own workload and co-ordinate workload activities within the team. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly telephone manner, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and withstand the pressure of a busy department.
Main duties of the job
The post holder’s main duties will include planning, organising, directing and co-ordinating the work of the identified service with minimal supervision.
You will demonstrate flexibility and use your initiative to carry out duties, making a direct and positive contribution to the organisation.
The post holder will provide a confident professional service to all service users and their carers while supporting them throughout their pathway of care. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times, adhering to Trust Policies and Procedures.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Communicate professionally and effectively with service users and carers, the general public and all internal and external agencies.
2. Proactively manage telephone calls, ensuring a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity.
3. Provide accurate, up-to-date, non-clinical advice relating to queries.
4. Ensure diplomacy, empathy and confidentiality when dealing with distressed service users and carers.
5. Liaise with clinical and non-clinical staff to resolve issues.
6. Attend and contribute to departmental/team meetings.
7. Monitor and ensure the delivery of a high-quality service user pathway.
8. Support the day-to-day organisation of clinical teams by managing diaries and coordinating meetings.
9. Mentor new members of staff as required.
10. Perform general office duties including dealing with correspondence and filing.
Person specification
Qualifications
* AMSPAR Diploma or equivalent experience.
* RSA III or equivalent.
* Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office products.
Experience
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
* Previous experience as a medical secretary.
* Experience/knowledge of people experiencing mental health issues.
Knowledge/Skills
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to organise duties and prioritise tasks within agreed timescales.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
