Level 3 Teaching Assistant Literacy Intervention Specialist Full Time Starting 06/01/2024 Initial 1 year contract. A large secondary school in Leeds is looking to appoint a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to work with their learners in KS3 and KS4 from January. There is the need for a Teaching Assistant to develop and lead Literacy Intervention for pupils and work alongside other staff to encourage progression within this area of the curriculum. A Teaching Assistant with a degree and/or specialism in an English-related discipline, or previous experience delivering Literacy Intervention would be an asset to this flourishing provision. Applications are welcome from both Level 3 Teaching Assistants, and those without Level 3 qualifications who are looking for progression Role and Responsibilities: - Plan and lead English/Literacy Intervention sessions for pupils in KS3 and KS4 (11-16). - Provide students with engaging, varied and successful intervention sessions focussing on Literacy and Communication. - Use knowledge of each pupil to build positive and enriching relationships which support social, emotional and mental health needs as well as promoting high self-esteem, independence and social inclusion. - Monitor and report on progress within the Literacy and English curriculum areas to SLT, Teachers and Parents, and act as a point of contact within the school for Literacy Intervention Support - Develop social stories, deliver Speech and Language programmes, use alternative communication methods (PECS / Makaton / BSL) and support social communication of pupils An Enhanced Child Only DBS (with update service) and EWC Registration will be required for this position. Minimum A-Level (or equivalent) education is also needed to fulfil the duties of this role.
