The Role Are you a Project Engineer with a passion for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver efficient and effective projects that meet agreed requirements? Our team is seeking a dynamic Project Engineer who can provide robust project management for complex schemes in a fast-paced environment to meet the needs of both internal and external Clients. As a Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in identifying engineering solutions and leading a variety of projects within the Asset Protection & Diversions Portfolio. You will work closely with delivery teams and Project Managers across the programme, gaining valuable insights into our organisation, major contracts, key industry partners, and the operating environments of our external Clients. By leveraging your expertise, you will address engineering and commercial challenges unique to our programme and external Clients' needs, collaborating with other experts. You will influence key aspects of how proposals and solutions are delivered to meet both internal and external requirements. Key accountabilities Responsible for delivering the project(s) through the asset lifecycle in accordance with required processes and systems Developing the project management plan and associated documentation from Client brief (requirements statement) through to handover & closeout Responsible for producing contract documentation (e.g. NEC3/4’s "Employers Works Information") or other technical documents and acting as the key point of contact for technical expertise throughout the lifecycle Managing the production of estimates and Business Cases to secure internal Governance approval for external Clients projects along with recovering income in accordance with applicable legislation i.e. Water Industry Act, New Roads and Street Works Act etc. Carrying out project reviews, recommending / taking action as appropriate and reporting progress internally and externally as required Risk management to drive the delivery of opportunities or threat reduction, including adequate escalation of issues outside of your control People management and securing resources in a multi-disciplinary functional & matrix project organisation. Acting as Designer (and where appropriate Principal Designer) under CDM regulations Skills & experience To be successful with your application, you’ll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria: Relevant engineering qualification (e.g. HNC or higher) or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience. Member of an appropriate professional body e.g. Association for Project Management (APM), Institute of Civil Engineers etc. Proven experience leading & delivering complex Engineering & infrastructure construction projects Proven experience of developing, managing and controlling project schedule, budgets, change & risk Demonstrable commercial & contract management experience Hold a current UK/EU driving licence with the ability to travel to sites or Client premises It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following? desirable? criteria: Exceptional communication skills and an ability to engage with stakeholders, external Clients’ and colleagues to develop solutions to complex and often changing challenges Proven resilience, negotiation and conflict management capability Experience working in a Regulated Utility environment with framework delivery Partners
