About the role
An exciting opportunity has opened to join our team Radiation Oncology in the Capital region.
We are looking for a Consultant radiation oncologist with general radiation oncology experience to join our team, on a fixed term contract. The team currently consists of 10 radiation oncologists who are supportive and dedicated to the provision of an efficient, high quality, patient focused treatment service. We are a very cohesive team and work collegially with our radiation therapy and medical physics colleagues, which creates a rewarding work environment. We also work closely with our oncology and surgical colleagues with multidisciplinary clinics across several sites. We offer HDR brachytherapy for gynaecological, prostate and skin cancers, and a radioactive iodine service for thyroid cancer. We offer stereotactic treatment to several sites. Our focus for 2024 is to extend our stereotactic programme and our research programme.
Wellington is an accredited training facility for radiation oncology registrars, radiation therapists and medical physicists. There is a research unit in the department to support a wide range of local, national and international studies. We have close links with the University of Otago Medical School and Department of Radiation Therapy, should you wish to get involved.
About you
* Vocationally registered in Radiation Oncology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
* FRANZCR or equivalent qualification and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
* Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
* Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
* Relevant experience and training
